Bio
Case the Joint (CTJ) pulled zero punches when they burst onto the Southern Ontario scene in 2017. The original outfit of the band was made up of four friends who had an idea to make fun tracks that told stories of their previous exploits as young men growing up in a border city. They decided to cast a veil over themselves and operate under the moniker Case the Joint, developing personas of safe-crackers and wise-guys. The idea was to create an image that left crowds intrigued and excited to attend shows. From 2017-2021, this version of CTJ developed a setlist of kickass songs and presented themselves as one of the most entertaining bands in the local scene of Windsor, ON. They had a handful of originals at their disposal, and ignited Windsor’s venues with high-octane, balls-to-the-wall rock n’ roll CTJ had one thing in mind when they got together: be the biggest, most entertaining show in the city, and if there is one thing the CTJ boys pride themselves on, it’s showmanship.
In 2020, CTJ released it’s highly anticipated EP, HEIST MUSIC, and supported the release by opening for acts such as Autumn Kings, Harm & Ease, and had plans to open for My Son the Hurricane. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, CTJ had to cancel all upcoming shows and release party, leaving the future of the band up in the air, as the world worked together to get out of lockdown. After much consideration, Case the Joint decided to move forward and pursue further opportunities in the industry, while continuing to grow their catalog. This resulted in some changes needing to be made, as not all members of the band were willing to continue.
By 2022, founding members Dave Nisbet and Kyle Knowler decided to bring in mutual friends Jordo Tough and William Cornett to take over rhythm section responsibilities. Jordo is formerly of Cowboys in Cardigans, a CBC Spotlight finalist and nationally recognized alternative rock band, as well as the current co-parent of the critically acclaimed act, Dogtone. William is an up-and-coming musician from the local scene who was ready to take over the bass position in CTJ after filling in from time to time during the original run of the band. Together, the newly formed version of CTJ made a promise to continue the legacy of what came before them by embracing the sound and energy that CTJ fans have come to love, while creating new material to release that builds upon the heavy riffs, catchy hooks, and never-say-die attitude that has made CTJ a force to be reckoned with.
As we approach 2023, CTJ has been busy building the brand with multiple media shorts showcasing the band members in acting roles, releasing previously unheard tracks from it’s catalog, and working on new tracks to release. There have been a number of successful shows to date, and the CTJ boys have no plans of slowing down, as they look forward to more show announcements and bigger releases that will hopefully propel this band of misfits to the next level!
